During a recent volunteering session at a nursing home, I had the privilege of spending time with several elderly residents and listening to their stories.

They spoke about working hard to provide for their families, raising their children, and witnessing Singapore transform over the decades. Each story was different, but one thing stood out: they deeply appreciated having someone sit beside them, listen, and simply spend time with them.

What touched me most was that they did not ask for money or expensive gifts. A friendly smile, a meaningful conversation, and a listening ear brought them genuine happiness.

The experience reminded me how easily we can take our everyday comforts for granted. Many elderly residents rely on the support and generosity of others for their meals, medical needs, personal care, and daily necessities. Behind every resident is a lifetime of hard work, sacrifice, love, and memories.

This is why I have started this fundraising campaign. The funds raised will be used to support the residents’ essential needs, including nutritious meals, medical and personal-care supplies, mobility aids, hygiene products, recreational activities, and other items identified by the nursing home.

Where possible, the funds may also support activities and programmes that provide companionship, social interaction, and meaningful experiences for the residents.

All donations will be directed towards the nursing home and used in coordination with its management to ensure that the support is provided where it is most needed. Updates on how the funds are used will be shared to maintain transparency with donors.

Every contribution, regardless of the amount, can make a meaningful difference. Even sharing this campaign with others would be greatly appreciated.

Together, we can remind our elderly that they are valued, remembered, and never alone.
