The Complete Story

Every day, thousands of community cats struggle to survive on the streets of Singapore. Hidden behind HDB blocks, industrial estates, construction sites, and back alleys, many suffer from hunger, illness, injury, and neglect with no one to care for them.

Recently, LUNI stepped in to help Mango, a young community cat found with a devastating wound across her body. A large section of skin had been torn away, leaving her in extreme pain and requiring major reconstructive surgery, intensive wound care, and prolonged hospitalisation.

We are also caring for Gandalf, an elderly FIV-positive cat who endured two major dental surgeries after years of painful dental disease. His recovery was so difficult that he required a feeding tube and over 1.5 months of medical boarding before he could begin healing.

🩷 POMME & MORA NEED YOUR HELP

This week has been a hard one, and we wanted to share it with you — not to sadden you, but because these two sweet souls need all the support we can give them. ❤️‍🩹

Here’s a video about their plight:

Pomme is just 2.8 years old. He came to us with a huge, painful mass, and the surgery to remove it was a long, difficult one — the area was so tender that even sedated, it was hard on his little body. We’re grateful the X-rays showed it hadn’t spread, and the vets were able to remove it cleanly. We won’t be able to run pathology on it, as it’s simply not something we can afford right now, so we may never know exactly what it was. On top of everything, one of his eyes is torn and ulcerated and will need its own care. The one small comfort — his teeth are in lovely condition, so at least that’s one less thing for him to go through. His medical bill is estimated at SGD 2,700. 😿

Mora is harder to write about. She was found by a kind member of the community, in a condition that broke our hearts — just 1.89kg, too weak to stand, her body temperature dangerously low. She was covered in fleas and mites, both eyes full of discharge, and her nails had grown so long they’d torn into her own paws. She has no microchip. The vets believe she’d simply been let go, left to fend for herself for far too long. She’s on IV fluids and antibiotics now, and we’re holding onto some good news — her bloodwork came back better than we feared. But her road ahead is a long one. She’ll need at least three weeks in medical boarding, possibly much longer, just to slowly rebuild her strength. Sadly, his medical bill will likely exceed SGD 2,300. 🥲

Neither Pomme nor Mora asked for any of this. All they can do now is heal, a little more each day, and trust that someone will be there for them. 💕

If you’re able to help carry even a small part of their journey, it would mean more than we can say. Please donate to help defray their medical bills of SGD 5,000+. 🤍

These are not isolated cases. Every month, LUNI receives urgent requests to help injured, sick, abandoned, and neglected cats who would otherwise be left to suffer in silence.

Our goal for 2026 is to help over 1,300 cats across Singapore through our four core pillars:

🐾 Community Cat Feeding – Supporting over 20 feeders who provide daily food for approximately 800 community cats.

🐾 TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) – Sterilising an estimated 200 community cats annually to reduce suffering caused by overpopulation.

🐾 Medical Care – Providing life-saving treatment for an estimated 100 injured or sick cats every year.

🐾 Rescue, Foster & Rehoming – Giving abandoned cats and vulnerable kittens a second chance through fostering and adoption.

Medical cases like Mango, Gandalf, and Skinny are unfortunately becoming more common, and LUNI now faces approximately SGD10,000 to SGD15,000 in medical bills every month to provide surgeries, diagnostics, hospitalisation, medications, and recovery care.

Your donation can make the difference between suffering and recovery.

Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us provide food, medical treatment, rescue, and hope to cats who have nowhere else to turn.

Together, we can give Singapore’s forgotten cats the second chance they deserve.

To everyone who has donated and shared our campaign, thank you. Because of your support, cats who would otherwise suffer alone are receiving the medical care they desperately need.

💔 Mao Mao, a 7–10-year-old cat weighing less than 2.4kg, came into our care in an extremely fragile state. She suffers from severe dental disease, painful facial swelling, suspected chronic stomatitis, possible early kidney disease, and is so malnourished that she has developed pressure sores on her heels. During her first dental procedure, six severely diseased teeth were removed, with more extractions still needed. A feeding tube has been placed to help her receive nutrition while she recovers. Due to the complexity of her condition, Mao Mao is expected to require prolonged hospitalisation and ongoing treatment. Her costs are estimated to exceed SGD4,000.

💔Mango was found with a devastating wound where a large section of skin had been torn away across her body. She underwent a complex reconstructive surgery and weeks of hospitalisation, medication, and wound care. Her stitches have now been removed, her wound is healing well, and her fur is beginning to grow back. Her medical costs have already exceeded SGD3,000.

💔 Gandalf endured years of severe dental disease before coming into our care. As an FIV+ cat, his recovery was especially difficult. He underwent two major dental surgeries, required a feeding tube, and spent over 1.5 months in medical boarding. His bills exceeded SGD6,300, but he is finally gaining weight and recovering well.

💔 Lucky, a feral cat was found with a large neck wound believed to have been caused by stray dogs. He required extensive stitches and weeks of medical boarding before he could safely return to his community. His treatment costs reached approximately SGD2,000.

💔 Theodore (prev. Skinny) was once someone’s pet before ending up on the streets. After becoming lethargic, vomiting, and losing his appetite, he was diagnosed with Stage 2 Kidney Disease. He is now receiving palliative care in a home-boarding environment where he can live comfortably and with dignity. His costs have already exceeded SGD1,600, with ongoing monthly boarding and prescription diet expenses.

Together, these cats represent more than SGD17,000 in medical expenses, with costs continuing to rise as new emergency cases arrive.

🙏 LUNI currently faces around SGD10,000 – SGD20,000 in medical bills every month. If you would like to make an even bigger impact, please consider becoming a monthly donor.

🩷 AN URGENT APPEAL FOR FIG, LOTUS & GORDON

Dear donors,

This year has been one of our hardest. Abandonment has gone up, and with it the number of cats arriving with serious medical needs. LUNI now faces over $10K to $15K in medical bills every month, and we’re asking for your help to reach our goal. Here is where three of our recently rescued cats stand right now. 🐾

🩷 AN URGENT APPEAL FOR FIG, LOTUS & GORDON

Lotus 😿
Lotus is an 8 to 10-year-old gentleman with impeccable biscuit-making skills and a very strong will to keep going.

Sadly, he is fighting a battle far bigger than he should have to. He has Stage 3 kidney disease, anemia and a blood clot near his bladder, and despite everything we’ve done, he is still not out of danger. His latest review showed that both kidneys remain severely swollen, with reduced blood flow and no improvement.

Our next step is to trial a new medication costing around $100 per pill, per day, for two weeks. It’s a substantial sum, but Lotus deserves this chance. His medical bills have already reached $2,800, and the costs are still mounting.

Fig 🧡
Fig is a 4-year-old tabby with a gentle, loving nature. He was rescued with a severe leg injury, and X-rays show a fracture in his left leg with an open wound around it. His bloodwork showed signs of infection, so he is on IV antibiotics. The good news is that his right leg and spine look fine, and he tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

His surgery was scheduled for 21 Oct. The surgery alone is estimated at $4,800 to $5,200. With medication, further treatment and boarding, we’re working with a budget of $8,500 to $9,000, as the final cost depends on how the surgery goes.

Gordon 🏠
Gordon came into our care in August after his feeders, H & J, reached out for help with his wounds. He is FIV-positive, and we’re happy to share that he is healing well in boarding.

Gordon can’t live with other cats, so he needs a patient, single-cat foster who can help him settle and decompress. If you could offer him that, please reach out to us. 🏠

Sadly, Lotus is running out of time, Fig is recovering from major surgery, and Gordon is waiting for a quiet home. And they are only three of the many cats who have come to us this year with nowhere else to turn.

Please donate to help us reach our goal this year. 🙏

Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to covering their treatment and giving the next cat in need a chance too. 🤍

Thank you,
All of us at LUNI, Lotus, Fig and Gordon

Gandalf needs you to save him from the streets...

Sadly, Mango is not alone. Cats like Gandalf, who endured two major dental surgeries and over 1.5 months of medical boarding, Lucky, who suffered a severe neck wound likely caused by stray dogs, and Skinny, a malnourished senior cat still undergoing tests, are just some of the community cats we are currently helping.
