For the past 15 years, Singapore has been more than just a workplace for Andre. It has been where he worked tirelessly to provide a better future for his family back in the Philippines.

At 43 years old, Andre has spent over a decade working as an Associate Engineer in Singapore. As the main breadwinner of his family, his income supports his wife and their three children, aged 20, 14 and 9.

On the morning of 27 July 2026, what started as a routine cycling ride took a tragic turn. While riding alone, Andre’s bicycle struck a piece of wood, causing the wheel to jam and throwing him off the bike. The accident left him with a broken neck.

Emergency surgery was performed to remove broken bone fragments, stabilise his neck with metal implants and relieve pressure caused by bleeding around his spine.

Although the surgery was successful, Andre now faces a long road to recovery. He currently has numbness in his right leg and weakened grip strength in both hands, while doctors estimate that rehabilitation could take six months or longer.

His wife, also an engineer based in the Philippines, had to take emergency leave to fly to Singapore to be by his side. With her here caring for Andre and Andre unable to work, the family’s income has been significantly affected during this period.

His company has stepped in to help with a portion of his hospital expenses, which will ease some of the immediate medical burden. However, Andre and his family still face the costs that come with a long recovery, including his co-payment, rehabilitation, follow-up care, transport and everyday living expenses while he is unable to work.

Andre needs our help as he begins the road to recovery.
